Second Edition – 2016


The Per3S (Performance and Scalablity of Storage Systems) workshop is focused on the  I/O and storage for the Exascale era. Per3S is coorganized by DDN, CEA, University of Versailles, and University of Western Brittany. The first edition of the workshop was initiated through the cllaboration of DDN and CEA.

The purpose of Per3S is to present state-of-the-art research, experimental or theoretical, on HPC storage systems, either form the academic or industrial world. Per3S is paying a particular attention to performance analysis.

With the advent of data-centric architectures, i.e. architectures where the cost of moving data becomes greater than the cost of producing data, storage systems are going through a phase of profound redefinition. The race to Exascale is challenging traditional architectures by pushing to unseen levels of scaling. Moreover, the arrival of new technologies, flash yesterday, NVRAM today, opens new architectural possibilities. As consequences, additionaly to their extreme complexity, architectures are not yet stabilized and behaviors are not understood in depth. This current lack of understanding of the performance put at stake most of the strategies for application otimizations.
PerSSS aims to become a forum for discussing these issues and to participate to the self-perception of the French speaking storage community.

This second edition of Per3S will last a full day, and will be held at the University of Versailles.
